Prophet Jeremiah Wright In The Dungeon: Senator Obama Trying To Pass Over - Part II

Scriptural References:

Jeremiah 38:6-16, 39:15-16, 13:23
----------------------------------------~~~~~~
"Can the Ethiopian change his skin Or the leopard his spots? Then you also can do good Who are accustomed to doing evil?

America, reminescent of the Prophet Jeremiah expects Obama to change his color and stripes, America does not intend to change its color or stripes under an Obama candidacy!

Can the Kenyan change his color or stripes? Inquiring minds want to know!

Will Senator Obama continue to betray his Pastor, and leave him in the dungeon, while as he tries to 'pass over' ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Introduction:
I wonder just how long will Obama permit Reverend Jeremiah Wright to languish in the dungeon, before he goes down to rescue him? Will it be before Good Friday? Or will he allow Reverend Jeremiah Wright to remain in the dungeon until he is brought up in order to be crucified? For that matter, will Senator Obama show up to take his former shepherd's dead body down from the cross, and help to prepare it for burial? Or, will he assist in resurrecting his former shepherd (after he has lain in a grave for 3 days?
Sadly, throughout the history of this nation, we have had individuals who have tried to 'pass' over! Obama is trying to pass, and he is doing so at the expense of his pastor - who has simply told the truth!
I. I have angered more than a few black Americans given my views with respect to an Obama candidacy. I have had the utmost respect for the man, his current dilemma and behaviors notwithstanding.
I know that Senator Obama is more qualified, mentally,, and would be a better President than George W. Bush ever was, or could be. Up until now, my feelings simply put have been Hillary Clinton has earned the right to be first in linegiven all that she has done for America and the world. And besides that, the world needs an erudite and caring empowered female to reverse the damage that dominate males, have done in the world.
My position up until Senator Obama's most recent conundrum and along with his recent behavior, led me to believe that Senator Obama should have supported her candidacy, and that he simply should have waited and spent the next four years preparing himself to be President of the United States!
However, given his most recent behavior, I can only wonder how disappointed most black Americans would be if he were to become President, now or in the future. Obama's recent behavior towards his recently resigned pastor, begs the following questions.
What will a President Obama do when he is forced to speak up for black America, particularly if by doing so, it will cost him politically? He has already cost his pastor, the man who married and ministered to him for 20 years, his job! By contrast, white American candidates have never backed down, when it came to speaking up for white just or unjust values! There is a time to compromise, and a time to speak up. It was not the time to compromise when you sold out Reverend Wright.
II. For many black Americans, Obama is like Jesus.
Obama reminds some black Americans of Jesus, particularly on the day when Jesus riding on the back of a colt, made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Many of the people believed that Jesus their King, was riding in to eviscerate the power of the Roman Republic, and to establish God's Kingdom on Earth. And were they disappointed!
Many black Americans believe that Obama, if he were to become President - would ride in and wield power over the American Republic, and correct all of its wrongs, particularly as it applies to black people in America, if not the world. These black Americans overlook the fact that so far, neither former President Nelson Mandela nor South Africa's current President Thabo Mbeki have been able to do much to change the landscape for the majority of black South Africans.
The majority of black South Africans still thrive in shantytowns, are without land (particularly lands that were taken from their ancestors), and are living in substandard conditions.
In my humble opinion, Obama has the attention of the nation, and he could better serve America if he were to become a figure like Doctor Martin Luther King, rather than continue to continue his current two-step compromises, in order to gain access to the white man's ball! His current behavior towards his own pastor I believe is a portent of what black Americans could expect if he were to become President.
I believe that he will sell black Americans out, just as he is doing to his pastor, when the heat is applied, or it becomes politically expedient for him to do so. Even his wife, who would be the first Lady of this nation, had to take back the words that came out of her heart recently. She was finally proud of her nation given its consideration of having a black man for a President, she said.
Within a few days, she had to capitulate and bite down on what was spoken from her heart, just as she will have to do for the years of an Obama Presidency. I don't think she can do it. Besides, white American Presidents and their wives, do not back down on their words. Senator McCain's wife made it clear that she was always proud of America, killing, slavery, racism, discrimination and all!
III. My Thrust With Regards To Obama: Is taken from the following scriptural texts. There are two heroes in these texts, Ebed-melech a Cushite first, and the Prophet Jeremiah second. Except for the loyal Ebed-melech, the Prophet Jeremiah could not have accomplished his mission. Prophet Jeremiah can accomplish his mission with Obama's help! But where is Obama?
In Jeremiah the scriptures read.
6 So they took Jeremiah [In this instance Reverend Jeremiah Wright] and put him into the well of Malchijah the king's son, in the open space of the prison, letting him down with ropes. There was no water in the well, but only mud. And Jeremiah went down into the mud.
7 But an Ethiopian servant of the king who had been made so he could not have children, heard in the king's house that they had put Jeremiah into the well. Now the king was sitting in the Gate of Benjamin.
8 And Ebedmelech went from the king's house and said to him,
9 "My lord the king, these men have been very sinful in all they have done to Jeremiah the man of God. They have put him in the well. And he will die there of hunger, for there is no more bread in the city."
10 Then the king told Ebed-melech the Ethiopian, "I am giving you the power to take thirty men with you, and bring Jeremiah the man of God up from the well before he dies."
11 So Ebed-melech as the leader took the men with him and went into the king's house to a place under the store-room. He took from there old pieces of cloth and worn-out clothes and let them down by ropes to Jeremiah in the well.
12 Then Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, "Put the clothes and pieces of cloth between your arms and the ropes," and Jeremiah did so.
13 Then they pulled Jeremiah up with the ropes and lifted him out of the well. And Jeremiah stayed in the open space of the prison.
a). Why was Jeremiah cast into the prison dungeon? He was placed there by King Zedekiah, given a perceived lack of patriotism on Jeremiah's part. What did Jeremiah say that was so wrong? He merely spoke what God had given him, explaining that Judah was punished given its disobedience to God.
b). Jeremiah warned the King and the nation that trying to escape [to Egypt], wouldn't do any good. Why? Because God had decided to use another nation to punish Judah, just as he had already punished Israel - given their gross disobedience to his word. The King and the people wondered following his prophecies, exactly whose side is that man on? When you tell people what they do not want to hear, they often wonder exactly which side you are on.
c). America has been guilty of egregious violations of God's laws, of the kind that it has refused to atone for, having said that a few states' legislatures have apologized for the gross indecency of this nation towards black Americans. Other states plan to follow, however, under then Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Newt and company refused to apologize for Congresses part in codifying the right of white Americans to behave unjustly towards other Americans.
d). Now the difference between Senator Obama and Ebedmelech is apparent. This Cushite, unlike Senator Obama who turned on his pastorr, immediately went to fight for the Prophet Jeremiah. He sought an audience with the King, and explained that 'the majority' had wronged the prophet Jeremiah. And as a result of his efforts, he was able to turn the heart of the King.
Folks, I don't see anywhere where Senator Obama is trying to change the hearts of the King or the people. He is selling out his pastor-prophet-leader, so that he can keep his campaign on course. We don't need that! If we stand for that, just so he can get elected, someday it might be you or me that he has to sell out!
IV. Courage Pays Off in the End:
Not only was their a benefit to Jeremiah, given Ebedmelech's courageous and dangerous course of action, to go up against 'a majority', the King summoned the prophet Jeremiah and gave him an audience as a result of Ebedmelech's courageous behavior.
In Jeremiah 38:14 King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah the man of God and had him brought to him at the third door of the house of the Lord. And the king said to him, "I am going to ask you something. Do not hide anything from me."
15 Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, "If I tell you, will you not kill me? Even if I speak wise words to you, you will not listen to me."
16 But King Zedekiah promised Jeremiah in secret, "As the Lord lives, Who gave us life, for sure I will not kill you or give you over to these men who want to kill you."
And Jeremiah thanked Ebedmelech, by writing, "Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then can you also do good who are accustomed to doing evil? There was nothing wrong with Ebedmelech's skin when he rescued prophet Jeremiah. Clearly like Senator Obama and other Americans, the prophet Jeremiah had some issues with the skin of darker hued people!
And much like the Prophet Jeremiah, many of the individuals who pretend to support Obama will forever remember the color of his skin. They don't believe it either, that Senator Obama will be unable to change the 2/3's color of his skin either.
V. Persecution, Courageous and Standing up for Your Convictions:
All of us who have suffered persecution and those of us whose ancestors have experienced social injustices in the 'land of the free and the home of the slave', ought to be speaking out for Reverend Jeremiah Wright; he should not have to sink alone.
We all need to help to free Reverend Jeremiah Wright from his dungeon, just as the black eunuch, Ebedmelech, had to lift the Jewish prophet, Jeremiah, from his miry dungeon and advocate for him to the King. It would appear that Senator Obama is willing to turn his back and permit his prophet, and permit him to languish there alone. I can only imagine the amount of hate mail and phone calls that the Reverend Wright is receiving at home or in his office. It goes on every day at the national headquarters of the NAACP in Baltimore Maryland! I've been there, I know!
And again I ask, what will Senator Obama likely do when it comes time to stand up for you? Reverend Wright is being more honest than Senator Obama has been. It is tragic what happens to a person, when he or she will sell out their values in order to gain access and to benefit from a flawed and oftentime corrupt system!
It is even more tragic, when anyone is willing to compromise with the venal portions of any political system, and sell out good people like Reverend Wright, just so they can benefit from the venal portion of that system themselves! No child left behind, no American should be left behind, Senator Obama!
Rev Wright is no wimp, and he knew the risks that he was taking, and that he would suffer persecution, just like Jesus did, for speaking the truth. However, he had the spirit of God and the strength of his convictions, which caused him to stand up, rather than to sit down.
Many other believers are under the impression that they are exempt from torture and punishment, because of the scriptural injunction, to touch not anointed...! Others know that they might be punished for speaking out. Senator Obama knows it, therefore, he won't stand up for what he or his wife really believes.
The scriptures do not exempt prophets from punishment, torture or death for standing up and proclaiming what is right, they merely intone that at some point those who punished, tortured or killed a prophet, will be punished themselves; but keep in mind it may never happen in the prophet's lifetime.
More than likely, the evil ones will continue to prosper while the prophet suffers, again read Hebrews the 11th chapter. Obama does not want to suffer. Obama wants to win and therefore his voice has been muted! Think of the good that he could really do, now that he has the nation's intention.
Senator Obama could be the Martin Luther King of today, as opposed to trying to provide over a corrupt system where the tail would wag him (the dog), and not the other way around. And as President Jimmy Carter pointed out at Coretta Scott King's funeral, Martin Luther King is bigger than any American President has ever been! Obama is not going to change white America or its systems, as some black Americans hope that he will do.
Summarizing Points:
Again, just as Nelson Mandela after he became President of South Africa, did not change South Africa, Obama cannot change America. Most black South Africans, the overwhelming majority, are still impoverished and existing in Shanty towns. And if black Americans are voting for Senator Obama, believing that he will single-handily change America, they are going to be sadly disappointed.
During this season of Anastasis, keep in mind again that when Jesus made his triumphal entrance into Jerusalem on a colt, many believed that he was coming in to establish God's Kingdom, and that finally, justice would prevail. That event occurred over 2,000 years ago - yet many of us today re still waiting for that victorious Kingdom to come!
Hang in there Reverend Jeremiah Wright, for even if Obama turns his back on you - God never will turn his back on you and neither will some of us turn our backs on you!
a). Did the Prophet Jeremiah's words come true: See Jeremiah the 39th chapter.
1 This is how Jerusalem was taken: In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army and laid siege to it. 2 And on the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah's eleventh year, the city wall was broken through. 3 Then all the officials of the king of Babylon came and took seats in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer of Samgar, Nebo-Sarsekim [a] a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer a high official and all the other officials of the king of Babylon. 4 When Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled; they left the city at night by way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls, and headed toward the Arabah. [b]
5 But the Babylonian [c] army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. They captured him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced sentence on him. 6 There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and also killed all the nobles of Judah. 7 Then he put out Zedekiah's eyes and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.
8 The Babylonians [d] set fire to the royal palace and the houses of the people and broke down the walls of Jerusalem. 9 Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard carried into exile to Babylon the people who remained in the city, along with those who had gone over to him, and the rest of the people. 10 But Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people, who owned nothing; and at that time he gave them vineyards and fields.
b). And what happened to Jeremiah?
11 Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given these orders about Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard: 12 "Take him and look after him; don't harm him but do for him whatever he asks." 13 So Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard, Nebushazban a chief officer, Nergal-Sharezer a high official and all the other officers of the king of Babylon 14 sent and had Jeremiah taken out of the courtyard of the guard. They turned him over to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him back to his home. So he remained among his own people.
c). And what did God have to say to the true patriot, through the mouth of Jeremiah!
15 While Jeremiah had been confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him: 16 "Go and tell Ebed-Melech the Cushite, 'This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill my words against this city through disaster, not prosperity. At that time they will be fulfilled before your eyes. 17 But I will rescue you on that day, declares the LORD; you will not be handed over to those you fear. 18 I will save you; you will not fall by the sword but will escape with your life, because you trust in me, declares the LORD.' "
God didn't give the black man anything, as is customary, although we continue to rescue the other prophets, and to carry crosees; however, he did recuse and rescue him from those who wanted to kill him; and the poor in the land, were finally given property that they deserved.
Conclusion: If Senator Obama will sell out his own pastor black America just so he can pass, what do you believe he will do when the time comes that he has to make a choice between his political career and any of you?
Will he like Jeremiah of scripture, who instead of thanking Ebedmelach himself, later point out the permanent inferiority of his Ebedmelach's dark skin color? Most Americans still refer to Senator Obama as a colored man, and many are not so sure that they want a 'colored man' to be President. They are not changing, however, will Senator Obama change either his color or stripes, just to become President of the United States.
Senator Obama, either needs to speak up or step aside, but whatever he does, he ought to remain true to his convictions, if he has them (based upon what his wife said). He should never allow anyone to make him take back what he knows to be true. And if they refuse to make you a President because you will stand up for what is true, instead, become an advocate of the black nation in America, and lead black America into removing the yoke off of the necks of its permanent underclassed citizens.
He will have a better shot at it, if he were to take on some of the civil rights baggage that he has run away from! America expects Obama to have changed, America does not intend to change. Go and get your pastor Obama! And run for President in a time when you can stand up for what you believe.
Peace & Grace
Reverend C. Solomon
Addenda: Obama if you won't stand up now, you will be just another Condoleeza Rice, white's man's black person, and America does not need that!
America has had enough black Americans to 'pass over' of late!
Thank you Betsy. I found and watched this presentation on YouTube earlier in the week.
When I listened to him sermonize, he sounded like yours truly!
He reminds me of Jeremiah the prophet in scripture, and we all know that the Jews wanted to kill Jeremiah given his assignment to root up, pull down, destroy and then build all over again.
Reverend Wright's critics are right about one thing, Reverend Jeremiah Wright should not be preaching this stuff.
The problem is that Billy Graham, Pat Robertson, Bishop Sheen, Jerry Falwell, and all of the white clerics who preceded and are contempoary with Reverend Wright should have, never have and they won't do it today!
America still needs a forklift upgrade! The majority cultures simply hates hearing the truth, no matter how it is presented. Dr. King spoke kindly to America, and America killed him!
Betsy,
After listening to a news magazine an hour ago, it occured to me that I listened to the wrong speech. I have now heard Obama's March 18th Speech - which is the one that I believe that you were referencing.
With respect to your comments, to listen in context, what are you referring to?
The question that kept coming to my mind as I listened was, where is Senator Obama directing his comments, and to whom?
Rev. C. Solomon said...
According to the Rev's housemate:
After listening to Obama's speech, he suggested that Senator Obama was being conciliatory in order to get elected. He added, "we all know that"!
However, and as I questioned him - is that what we want? It seems clear to me that Obama's comments were directed to a white audience and to a segment of 'the X generation'!
Are we headed to more of 'Truth forever on the scaffold, and Wrong forever on the throne'?
Jesus commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to the people..., he told Ezekiel that they are not going to listen..., however, if you don't tell them what I told you and they are lost, I will require the blood at your hands.
I'm concerned about Senator Obama's two-stepping - perhaps he was really called to preach and he has missed his calling!
